Accused facing additional charges

SYDNEY — A Glace Bay man already facing sex offences has been charged with additional offences.
Kenneth Ryan Peters, 30, of International Street was previously charged with sexual assault and sexual interference that are alleged to have occurred in Glace Bay between October and December 2019.
He is also charged with a second sexual assault along with sexual exploitation and exposing his genitals to an individual under the age of 14. Those offences are alleged to have occurred between October 2016 and December 2017 in Glace Bay.
Peters has elected a Supreme Court judge alone trial and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on the charges Aug. 4.
New charges against Peters include two counts of uttering threats, and single counts of assault, unlawful confinement and breaching a court order. The offences are alleged to have occurred Jan. 6 in Glace Bay.
Peters has again been released on conditions that include turning over his passport to Cape Breton Regional Police, he abide by a curfew, have no contact with the complainants and not be in any childcare role involving anyone under the age of 18.
He is now scheduled to enter pleas on the new charges Feb. 4.
