SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
London man arrested
LONDON, ON (October 21, 2024) – A London man is facing charges in relation to a sexual assault that took place late last week in the east end of the city.
Shortly before 10 p.m., on Thursday, October 17, 2024, a teenaged girl met a man in the area of Clarke Road and Wavell Street. The two struck up a conversation and accompanied each other to the east side of a school on Clarke Road.
At approximately 6 a.m. the following morning, the teenaged girl was sexually assaulted by the suspect male.
The victim entered the school and reported the incident. Police were contacted and commenced an investigation.
Through witness descriptions and video surveillance footage, police were able to positively identify a suspect male.
On October 19, 2024, *a 36-year-old London man was arrested and charged with the following offences:
– Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age; and
– Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age.
The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
