NEW BRUNSWICK

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Bathurst man who failed to show up to his sentencing hearing.

34-year-old Jonathan Louis Lavigne was found guilty in October of sexual interference and sexual touching involving a minor.

He was scheduled to receive his sentence on Tuesday however did not show up for his court appearance.

Lavigne’s lawyer tells the Acadie-Nouvelle it’s unclear whether his client’s absence was an attempt to avoid jail time or a simple oversight.

The charges stem from incidents occurring between August 2011 and April 2013 in the Petit-Rocher area.
