B.C. RCMP OFFICER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ,UTTERING THREATS .

A B.C. RCMP officer has been charged with sexual assault and uttering threats on Vancouver Island.

According to B.C. court records, Jason Ellias Sammoun is charged with two counts of sexual assault in Nanaimo and one count of uttering threats in Victoria.

All three incidents are alleged to have occurred on April 1, 2024.

B.C.’s Prosecution Service said in an email that the investigation was conducted by Nanaimo RCMP and that the charges are “sexual assault causing bodily harm, choking during the course of sexual assault, and uttering threats.”

The charges were laid on Dec. 30, and Sammoun is due to appear in court in Nanaimo on Jan. 30.

In an email, RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Kris Clark confirmed Const. Sammoun was suspended with pay and said his status with the police force is “subject to continuous review and assessment.”

Clark also said that a code of conduct investigation is ongoing.
