Police in central Newfoundland say they have received a complaint of a sexual assault involving a junior high student.
The Gander RCMP said officers responded to a call of a sexual assault on Sunday in the town.
The girl is in hospital, CBC News has learned.
Staff Sgt. Roger Flynn said there are a number of young witnesses yet to be interviewed in the case, and he doesn’t want to “spook” them by making a public statement.
In a news release, the RCMP said they don’t believe there is any “ongoing risk to members of the community.”
