A 38-year-old St. Thomas man is facing multiple charges in connection with a sexual assault investigation.
On December 2nd, the St. Thomas Police Criminal Investigations Branch became involved in an investigation after receiving an allegation of a sexual assault.
It was alleged that on two separate occasions the accused touched an 11-year-old girl inappropriately.
Through investigation and with the assistance of the Centre of Forensic Sciences, a 38-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested and charged on Monday.
He faces two counts of sexual assault – person under 16, two counts of sexual interference – person under 16, and Invitation to Sexual Touching.
St. Thomas Police say he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Investigators say the victim and the accused were known to each other, but they haven’t disclosed their relationship.
